Norms from nearly 4,000 men and women spanning the entire age range provide a basis for examinee percentile rank. The Smell Identification Test is the most widely used olfactory test, having been administered to nearly 1,000,000 people worldwide. It is easily self-administered in 10-15 minutes. Developed at the University of Pennsylvania with funding from the National Institutes of Health, the UPSIT is comprised of 4 booklets, each containing 10 microencapsulated (scratch & sniff) odors.
