The FlavorActiV Geosmin Flavour Standard is a sensory reference for training tasters to recognise the earthy, musty character of geosmin. It is suitable for sensory panels and quality control teams working with water, beverages and food products.

Geosmin can be present in source water and may affect the flavour of finished products even at very low concentrations. Its characteristic notes are often described as earthy, musty, dusty or reminiscent of fresh rain. Learning to recognise these notes can help teams investigate unexpected flavour changes and communicate their findings more consistently.

FlavorActiV Geosmin Flavour Standard

The encapsulated standard provides a consistent geosmin reference for taster training and panel calibration. It can be used to familiarise assessors with the flavour, compare their responses and practise identifying geosmin in a prepared beverage sample. Applications include training for breweries, bottled water producers, soft drink manufacturers and sensory laboratories.
