LANG Stereopad Application

The LANG Stereopad is designed to detect stereovision impairments from approximately six months of age. Deviations in binocular stereovision are considered important symptoms of conditions such as amblyopia, microstrabismus, and anisometropia. The test helps detect these impairments early and is therefore a valuable addition to standard eye examinations.

Operating Principle

The test system uses random-dot stereograms combined with a lenticular surface to visualize three-dimensional figures without the use of test glasses. The test cards are presented individually or in combination on a magnetic test panel, allowing for various test configurations. By varying the order and placement of the cards, the Stereopad offers greater reliability and ease of interpretation compared to many other stereo tests.

Stereopad Test Plates

The LANG Stereopad consists of six magnetic test cards with random dots and geometric objects that are only visible with intact binocular stereo vision. The test cards have varying transverse disparities, ranging from coarse to fine, allowing for the determination of the individual threshold for stereo vision. The test does not require special glasses and is designed to prevent monocular recognition.

Clinical Relevance

The Stereopad is suitable for screening and for more differentiated evaluation of stereo vision. This makes the test particularly valuable in child and adolescent healthcare and for patients with communication disabilities.

Technical Specifications

The LANG Stereopad test plate features a magnetic surface on which the test cards are placed. The test cards contain three-dimensional objects with transverse disparities ranging from 50 to 1000 arcseconds. The system is suitable for short-range screenings; 35 to 40 centimeters.
